IP Lookup
Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address to look up its approximate location, ISP, timezone, and network info.
IP location is approximate and may reflect an ISP, VPN, proxy, mobile carrier, or data center rather than a precise physical location. This tool contacts ipapi.co to look up the IP — no files are uploaded.

What the fields mean
Privacy and accuracy
This tool contacts an external IP information service (ipapi.co) to identify or look up an IP address. No files are uploaded. ConvertForge does not store the IP addresses you enter. IP geolocation accuracy varies — addresses assigned to VPNs, proxies, CDNs, and mobile carriers often show the provider's location rather than the end user's location.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the location show a city I'm not in?
IP geolocation is based on registration data, BGP routing, and probe data — not GPS. ISPs and cloud providers often register their address blocks at a headquarters or network hub location, so the shown city may differ significantly from your physical location.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number (ASN) identifies a collection of IP networks under a single routing policy, usually owned by an ISP, hosting provider, or large company. ASNs are assigned by regional internet registries (RIRs).
Can I look up private IP addresses (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x)?
Private IP ranges are reserved for local networks and are not routable on the public internet. The lookup service will return an error or reserved status for these addresses.
What is the rate limit?
ipapi.co's free tier allows up to 30,000 requests per day. If you exceed the limit, you'll see a rate-limit error. The tool will display a clear message in that case.
Is the lookup result accurate for VPN or Tor users?
No. When using a VPN or Tor, the IP you look up belongs to the exit server or relay, not your physical location. The lookup will show the VPN server's provider and approximate location.
